5 Wedding Photos I Would’ve Regretted Not Taking

April 22, 2015

With a million parts to the wedding planning process, it can be difficult to imagine all of the photos you'll want from your big day. I've put together my must have photos that I would've regretted not having from my wedding day | An Aspiring Heroine

I’m currently in the tedious process of sorting through all of our wedding photos (please note the sarcasm; it’s the most fun I’ve had since planning the wedding). While most of them are ones that I remembered taking or ones that I was expecting based on the conversation that I’d had with our photographer prior to the big day, I was surprised by how much I loved some of the more random photos! Upon realizing just how sad I would be without the photos listed below, I decided to type up a quick guide for brides-to-be; these are the wedding photos you must take, even if your photography schedule gets way out of whack like mine did!

1. Little details

From the flowers to the bracelets that I picked out for my bridesmaids, I love these little snapshots from our wedding day. It helps paint a picture of the day as a whole.

2. Goofy groomsmen

Just imagine my surprise when we stopped by Men’s Warehouse to pick up the guys’ tuxes and were told that one of them had chosen the upgraded package, which came with white gloves, a top hat, and even a cane. While I was tempted to hide them until after the ceremony took place, I’m actually glad I let them play around with them for (one or two!) wedding photos. I can’t express how much this photo embodies this crazy group!

3. “Our pose”

When you’ve been with someone since the awkward teen years, you no doubt have a signature pose, the one shot you had to get before prom nights, on beach vacations, and even during those spontaneous backyard get-togethers. This one is ours, and it will have a special place in our wedding album!

4. A fun photo with each of my bridesmaids

Confession: We totally took the Bridesmaids cover photo. Our numbers were perfect, and I couldn’t resist. But, that isn’t my favorite photo from our bridal party session. When I first asked each of my bridesmaids to stand up at the altar with me, I included a fun photo from our friendship, and then we recreated it before the wedding. My sister’s recreation was from a particularly model-worthy shot that my dad snapped while on vacation at Walt Disney World!

5. My bridal portraits

I didn’t need bridal portraits. I told my mother, I told my photographer, and I told anyone else who would pretend to listen to me. I mean, really, who puts announcements in the newspaper anymore? However, upon receiving said unnecessary bridal portraits, I was forced to bite my tongue. I love them! I love having photos of my dress from before the wedding hustle and bustle, and I’ve even started using one as my blog photo, which means it’s a big deal. (Just don’t mind the Minnetonkas peeking out from the bottom!)

What photos did you end up loving once your wedding was all said and done? Which photos are any of you brides-to-be adding to your short list?

P.S. Chatting with your photographer before the big day is such an important thing. Here are some others.
