Never have I ever been as excited to receive a subscription box as I was for the Kinder Beauty Box that was deposited on my doorstep two weeks ago.

You know from my post about zero waste living that 1. I have a likely unhealthy obsession with all the Potter alums and the awe-inspiring things they’re doing with their lives, and 2. I’m making an effort to be more conscious about my choices as a consumer. So, when I heard that Evanna Lynch was launching a cruelty-free, vegan beauty box, I immediately knew I’d be signing up. (And I did, months before the boxes were even available!)

This woman single-handedly got me to watch Dancing with the Stars, you guys. I didn’t stand a chance when she started advertising the Kinder Beauty Box, which includes at least 3 full-sized products and a variety of samples and cost me $24 for a one-month subscription. If you sign on for a 3-month or 12-month subscription, you get a break on the monthly price. Oh, and did I mention that a portion of all the proceeds goes to animal rights and environmental causes?

Okay, Tyler. We get that the whole thing made you feel warm and fuzzy, but were the products any good?

I’m so glad you asked.

Here’s a rundown of what I received in my first Kinder Beauty Box:

Honeybee Gardens Effortless Eyeliner in Belgian Chocolate

Retail price: $8.99

This is the best eyeliner pencil I’ve ever used. Full stop. No qualifying necessary. The application is as smooth as a liquid eyeliner, but it’s smudgeable in the best way. The color is rich and decadent as is the application, which makes me think I should be keeping real Belgian chocolate on-hand at all times, too.

Andalou Naturals Tumeric + C Enlighten Serum

Retail price: $24.95

I’m a newbie to serums. This is only the third kind that I’ve tried, but I really love two things about it: 1. My skin feels brighter and more luminous (without being full-on shiny) when I put it on in the mornings, and 2. 1 pump is enough to cover my entire face and neck.

Also, it smells good. Fresh and zesty without crossing the line into fruity.

Inika Organic Loose Mineral Eye Shadow in Burnt Sienna

This eye shadow was a complete surprise when I opened my box because Burnt Sienna wasn’t one of the original shade choices. But I’m very into it. It’s this beautiful earthy brownish-reddish color with just the tiniest bit of shimmer to it. The coverage is great with my eye shadow brush, though the ever-popular finger application is my favorite for this mineral eye shadow.

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream

As someone whose “sad Irish eyes” (a phrase my dad actually uses to describe our eyes) make them look perpetually tired, this product is a lifesaver. It absorbs easily, leaving the skin looking dewy and feeling extra-moisturized. Also, can I just say that this product also smells amazing and makes me crave espresso in the mornings?

I will admit that it took a few days for me to start seeing a real effect, but now that I’m using it both at night and in the mornings, I think it’s making a different with my always-present dark circles.

JUARA Skincare Rice Facial Cleanser

Retail price: N/A

My review: ★★★★

I really like this cleanser! I think I was most skeptical about this product, to be honest. Rice? On my face? And it’s going to get rid of the makeup and everything else my skin comes in contact with throughout the day? But guess what. It does! (And I know you probably think I’m crazy at this point, but it also smells lovely, which I’m realizing is important to me.)

One thing to note is that, like other sulfate-free cleansers, this one doesn’t really foam. I know it’s something I’ve had to get used to since I grew up thinking bubbles = clean, but I’d always rather have a creamier soap than dry, moisture-stripped skin!

Pure Vegan Vitamin B12 Methylcobalamin Spray

Retail price: $19.99

My review:

It’s time to be real with you: I completely forgot I had this product in the box. It was a free gift for early subscribers, and since 1. it’s something you ingest, not wear on your face and 2. I’m not vegan (but might actually need more B12 after a little googling), it fell to the bottom of the box and wasn’t discovered again until I started taking photos for this post.

I have used it twice now, and it has a nice, almost fruity flavor. But I don’t really think I can review it until I give it a real try. So it will remain review-less for now, and you can come back later to see if this B12 spray changes my life like some of these other products have!

Does that sound like a subscription box you’d be interested in receiving? You can get in on next month’s Kinder Beauty Box now by using my referral link. At no extra cost to you, you’ll receive a free gift in your first box, and I’ll get a percentage off my next box, so I can continue to share some great products with you. Thanks for your support of the blog!

Which of January’s products would you be most excited to receive?

P.S. You know what this box would go great with? Self care routines!
