I received these Temptations products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions are 100% my own.
I don’t know if it’s the printable in last month’s Something Blue post on thank you notes or that I got the chance to contribute to Kate’s “How Do You Deal” series, but lately I have started to feel like a “real” blogger. What makes one a “real” blogger, you ask? Is it based on some Google Analytics data, or how many other bloggers like your Tweets? Does it have to do with the fact that I’ve been blogging consistently for about 150 days? I don’t think there’s any one thing that makes you a “real” blogger, but it’s certainly nice to feel like I belong here.
Of course, we all know that bloggers blog for one reason and one reason alone: to get free stuff… for our cats. That’s right, my first Influenster VoxBox came in the mail on Monday, and let’s just say it was cat-tastic! This one came straight from Temptations, and while I imagined she would be apathetic about the whole thing (because that’s what cats do when they can tell you’re really excited about something), Zoey was pretty into the whole thing.
First of all, I don’t know if she just liked the color or could tell that it was for her, but she was all over that box from the second I set it down. It took all I had to get it away from her long enough to tear through the taped edges and see what we’d gotten. There were two items in the VoxBox: a Temptations Snacky Mouse Cat Toy, and a pouch of Temptations Tasty Chicken Flavor Cat Treats. We’ve always fed Zoey Temptations treats, so she wasn’t surprised to see that iconic little pouch. She was, however, a bit confused by the Snacky Mouse toy, and honestly wasn’t interested in it at all until I twisted off the poor little guy’s head and started filling him with the treats. Then I had her full attention!
It took her a minute to figure out what to do with the mouse. She tried biting him, circling him, pushing him down on the floor and pulling the treats out with her teeth. When he sprang up from that last effort of hers and dropped a treat on the floor, she finally got it, and from then on she was batting at him like he was the real thing. (Thank God he’s not.) Once she got going I feel like she would’ve knocked him over until all of the treats were out, but the serving size says 10 treats not 52, so I eventually had to take it away from her. Oh those pathetic Puss in Boots eyes…
The toy itself was really easy to use. It’s just a simple turn to open the mouse up, and then you can fill him with as many or as few treats as you prefer. It also seems pretty sturdy, which is good because Zoey tends to get a little into playtime. (I would include a picture of her dilapidated scratching post as evidence, but I’m too embarrassed by it.)
Like I said before, Zoey has grown up on Temptations Cat Treats (she loves all of their seafood flavors), so she comes running any time we shake that little pouch. Now instead of just tossing a treat her way, I can fill up the Snacky Mouse toy and play with her. I’m also going to try hiding him away somewhere in the morning for her to find during the day, which alleviates a bit of my guilt about leaving her alone all day while Spencer and I are at work, so the Snacky Mouse toy is a win-win for us.
Overall, I think Zoey really enjoyed Temptations’s newest cat toy, and I’m excited that we can keep using it over and over again with the treats that we already have stuffed in drawers around the apartment. Word to the wise: it was more difficult for Zoey to get any treats out of it when it was less than half-filled, which led to frustration on her part and mine as I tried to videotape her using it. As long as you keep it filled about 3/4 of the way, your cat will love Temptations Snacky Mouse Cat Toy, and I would definitely recommend it!
Do you give your cat Temptations Cat Treats? Zoey grew up on them!
