I’m still not quite sure I’m awake, so I’m going to sit here and listen to “Simple Song” until I feel like myself. Chat with you in a bit!

Why can’t it always take 20 minutes to get downtown? Or more importantly, why does it take me at least twice that to get home every day? I guess that’s what it would be like to live in a world with no traffic.
6:45 a.m.
Finally made it upstairs to my desk after getting the early hours elevator password wrong three times… Part of me wants to mound my cardigan into a pillow and catch a few extra zzz’s, but I think I’ll get started on some work, so Spencer and I can hopefully get out of Cincinnati ahead of the mass exodus.

If I have one weakness in this entire world (besides white chocolate Reese’s cups), it’s those little surveys that you get on restaurant receipts. 1) I love taking surveys, and 2) I, along with all sound-minded humans, love free food. So when you tell me you’ll give me food in exchange for my opinion, I just can’t resist.
This morning’s receipt coupon is from Dunkin’ Donuts. I don’t typically buy breakfast or even coffee for that matter (shout out to Sam’s Club for bulk pricing on oatmeal and K-Cups), but I got a survey receipt on National Donut Day, and then another one when I went back to use that coupon. It’s a vicious cycle.
Having done a solid hour of reorganizing in our massive storage area, I think I’ve earned a coffee and a Boston Cream. Wouldn’t you agree?
8:32 a.m.
Boston Cream? Check! Medium coffee with hazelnut and a little milk? Check! The will to make it through this Friday? …
I’ll get back to you on that one.
10:24 a.m.
You guys, despite an obvious case of the Fridays, I have been super productive today! I know I already let the cat out of the bag in this unpost about my promotion (maybe too early since it hasn’t officially gone through HR yet), but I’ve gotten the chance to get a little organized concerning some of my new duties today, and it’s making me so excited to dive headfirst into this new role.
Plus I’m getting to use some of the things I frequently use in my blogging life (MailChimp, HootSuite, editorial calendars) in my new position, so I suppose writing and communicating with groups of people is what I do best, on and off the clock!
12:41 p.m.
Sometimes the whole office environment life is just cruel. How am I supposed to get excited about a homemade salad with lite Caesar dressing when the break room smells like someone just heated up a four-course Italian meal?
Also, I’m still feeling the coffee jitters from this morning, which has me jumping up every now and then to chat with a coworker or two or three. Have I mentioned that it’s Friday? Because it seems that everyone in the office is in the weekend state of mind. I personally love these days; they always result in lots of laughs and a better sense of each of my coworkers, post-5 o’clock.
I’ve demolished my salad while writing this entry (coffee jitters make me hungry), and now I have to try to hold out for Popcorn Friday at 3 without rifling through my coworker’s candy jar.
But she just added some Baby Ruths this morning, so I wouldn’t blame you for betting against me.
3:33 p.m.
Full disclosure: I ate a Baby Ruth. And enjoyed a nice cardboard container of buttery deliciousness for Popcorn Friday. And I just found out that today is National Peach Ice Cream Day, and the powers that be would basically revoke my Georgia girl card if I don’t indulge in a bit of that later today.
What I’m trying to say is, it’s Friday, and my healthy diet doesn’t work on weekends. Or Fridays, apparently.
In other news, I love my coworkers. I wouldn’t want to spend a Friday afternoon anywhere but here with them. Unless, of course, we could all be on a beach. Then I’d definitely choose Friday afternoon with them on a beach.

And we’re off! It’s a little later than we’d hoped, but I suppose that’s what happens when your husband meets the engine that will be his to test for the next few months. You just can’t rush relationship-building moments like that.
Wish us luck! Spencer says we’ll be in the ATL before midnight. I, however, am not holding my breath.
11:22 p.m.
What can I say? My husband is a crazy speed demon. Sorry for skipping five whole hours of live blogging, but the cell service in Tennessee is pretty spotty, and I still haven’t gotten the hang of the WordPress app. We’re here in Buckhead now, and since it’s basically Saturday, I’m going to go ahead and peace out.
Despite being M.I.A. for most of the evening, I hope you enjoyed spending your day with me, and I hope this helps make up for my complete inability to form coherent thoughts this week. I promise to have more posts coming your way in the days to come.
Have a great weekend!
