My posts about Disney World are some of the most popular on this blog and for good reason. Disney makes people happy, and so do great bachelorette party scavenger hunts and unique experiences like Drinking Around the World.
Recently I was chatting with my friend Michelle about our amazing trip for my bachelorette party nearly three and a half years ago, and we decided that a reunion trip to Epcot was in order! That got me wondering what it would be like to drink around the world entirely with beer (because if Spencer and I were to ever do something like this, that’s exactly how he would spend the day). And voila! This new and improved Drinking Around the World guide was born.
For a more comprehensive guide, you’ll want to check out my original post with a schedule for drinking around the world and tips for surviving the day. But for a quick rundown of places and drink options, keep on reading below!
Canada
Beer: La Fin du Monde
Cocktail: Ottawa Apple
When the World Showcase opens at 11 am, you’ll want to start in Canada so you don’t waste a perfectly good hour of drinking. At the Popcorn in Canada food cart, they have a selection of beers and a few new frozen mixed drinks as well, including the Ottawa Apple with Crown Royal Maple Whiskey, an apple infusion and cranberry juice.
Mexico
Beer: Dos Equis Lager
Cocktail: Blood Orange Margarita
Double back to Mexico at noon right in time for La Cava del Tequila to open. The lines will be short, and these fresh made margaritas (frozen or on the rocks) are so much better than the premixed ones you can find outside the Mexico pavilion pyramid. I loved the Blood Orange margarita, but I’ve heard great things about the Jalapeño, Avocado, and Hibiscus ones.
Norway
Beer: Carlsberg
Cocktail: Viking Coffee
The Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe is a cute little spot in the Norway pavilion that serves drinks and cakes like the School Bread that my friend Leigh bought. (One day I’ll have to do a “Snacking Around the World” post to accompany this one!) There are a few options here, but I would definitely recommend a cold Carlsberg or iced Viking Coffee over the Aquavit Glacier Shot. You don’t need shots if you’re going to make it through the day.
China
Beer: Tsing Tao
Cocktail: Canto Loopy
The Joy of Tea in the China pavilion includes a variety of refreshing drink options like my recommendation, a mixture of vodka and cantaloupe juice, and the Tipsy Ducks in Love, which includes bourbon, coffee, black tea, cream and chocolate syrup. It sounds delicious, but not even remotely Chinese.
Germany
Beer: Schöfferhofer Pink Grapefruit Hefeweizen
Cocktail: Bärenjäger Honey & Bourbon
If you’ve been snacking along your journey, now might be the perfect time to take a break from the heat and pop into the Biergarten Restaurant for a little German buffet action and great entertainment. Germany has the best beer selection of any country you’ve visited so far while drinking around the world, so take advantage of it! This is the beer I would get, but Spencer would probably get the Warsteiner Dunkel (or let’s be honest, the entire flight).
Italy
Beer: Moretti
Cocktail: Bellini
Since we’re talking beer and cocktails and not wine (which the Italy pavilion has plenty of in the Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar), the Gelati food cart has everything you can ask for: a Moretti and a good ole Bellini.
USA
Beer: Sam Adams Seasonal
Cocktail: Red Stag Lemonade
If the Fife and Drum Tavern has a craft beer that interests you, by all means order it. I’m only telling you to go with the Sam Adams Seasonal because it’s a safe choice. (But really you should be getting the Red Stag Lemonade because that stuff is crazy good.)
Japan
Beer: Kirin
Cocktail: Plum Wine Sake
Head into the Mitsukoshi Department Store and go back until you find the Sake Bar. You can sample great sake and plum wine, and you can also buy fun flavored Kit Kats to help hold you over until dinner!
Morocco
Beer: Casa Beer
Cocktail:
There are a few beers available at the Spice Road Table, but only one of them is actually from Morocco. I’m also not sure how authentic any of the cocktails available are, but the Cyprus Sun with almond liqueur, creme de cacao, orange juice, and coconut milk sounds pretty dark good. (So does the Andalusian Nights. Apricot Brandy, Myers’s dark rum, orange juice, and piña colada mix? Yes, please!)
France
Beer: Kronenbourg 1644
Cocktail: Grand Marnier & Grey Goose Orange Slush
Les Vins des Chefs de France kiosk is where it’s at. The drinks in France are my favorite in the entire World Showcase because they use the top shelf stuff albeit in tiny, tiny doses. I’ve also heard good things about the beer choice here, so it’s all around a good thing.
United Kingdom
Beer: Black and Tan
Cocktail: Pimm’s Cup
And finally we’ll end the day in the second pavilion with really, really good beer selections. Head over to the Rose & Crown pub where you can do flights, pints, and beer mixtures. Might I suggest a Black and Tan (my dad’s favorite) or a Snake Bite (the beer mixture I lived on when I studied abroad in Ireland)?
And that’s it! 11 beers (or cocktails) in 11 hours, a completely full day of Drinking Around the World.
There’s a bit more to read about the whole experience in my original post about Drinking Around the World, and as always, leave your questions below. I’d love to hear what you think about the whole concept!
P.S. I also have a printable Disney World scavenger hunt checklist you might enjoy!
