Hello, friends. Here we are, the day before Christmas, and I am at work. Alright, technically, I’m back in good old Rome, Georgia, working remotely, but you get the gist. Let’s just say that college winter break and work holidays are not the same thing. Not by anyone’s definition.
With the wedding wrapped up and Christmas in the air, I’m getting a bit nostalgic. You see, this will be my first holiday season spent outside of Vermont since I was 2 months old! More importantly, I won’t be spending it with my family this year, and that is an absolute first. I’m not sure it’s hit me quite yet because I do have exciting new traditions to be a part of with Spencer’s family, but I’m sure this Christmas won’t feel like real Christmas.
Of course, I shouldn’t complain since the reason we won’t be in Vermont for Christmas is because Spencer and I are heading on our honeymoon! I don’t think I’ve told you all about our big trip yet: we’re going to be in Paris and London, starting Christmas Day and ending the day after New Year’s! So it’s incredibly exciting, and I should stop being such a pain and be thankful for all of the wonderful things that will be happening this holiday season.
In the hopes of getting all my feels out and pumping myself up for the honeymoon, here are…
3 things I’ll miss most about Christmastime in Vermont
- Skiing my favorite runs and visiting the spot where Spencer proposed!
- Attending Christmas Eve service with my family and getting a new (surprise) pair of holiday pajamas
- Unwrapping presents on Christmas morning and spending the rest of the day watching the final season of “How I Met Your Mother” and laughing by myself in the corner
and…
3 things I’m most excited about for the honeymoon
- Riding an elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower and getting to fully experience the city of light
- Visiting Westminster Abbey and seeing where so many important literary and historical figures are buried
- Spending an entire eight days away from work, class, the blog (sorry, guys!) and all of life’s distractions, just me and Spencer and no one else
I hope you all have a wonderfully merry Christmas, or enjoy your Kwanzaa celebration, or enjoyed the eight nights of Hanukkah, or just get lots of rest and you time during the winter break! The next time you hear from me, I’ll be in Europe!
