That’s right, it’s that time of year again – March Madness! For those of you who don’t have a Sports Center obsessed housemate, yesterday was Selection Sunday for the NCAA Basketball Tournament, which means the next twenty-four hours will be full of bracket filling, odds counting, and pool joining for tons of people across the country.
My brother-in-law always organizes a pool for his family and friends, and as I’ve done the last few years, I filled out my bracket last night and sent it in to him with $10 that I have no hopes of ever seeing again.
Now before you start wondering where the nerdy, uncoordinated girl who normally writes this blog went, let me assure you that I choose my picks in a much more unique way than anyone else in the family. My bracket is entirely based on each school’s mascot. I’ve done meanest looking mascot, and which mascot would win in a fight, but this year I went back to the basics with a simple “cutest” mascot.
You can see my entire bracket here, but here are my mascot picks for the Final Four:
4. Wildcat – University of Kentucky
3. Joe Bruin – University of California, Los Angeles
2. Boomer – University of Oklahoma
1. The Duck – University of Oregon
I don’t know if it’s the Disney resemblance or that cute little necktie, but the Oregon Duck beat out all the other mascots in my book!
Are you filling out a bracket this year for March Madness? Do you have a unique way of choosing which teams will win?
