If you don’t remember me, I’ll try not to be offended. I mean, it has almost been an entire month since I wrote a blog post!
Let’s just say I was being very optimistic when I didn’t go on a formal hiatus for the last three weeks. It’s been a busy time in the Hyde household, to say the least, and there was also a week or so when I unexpectedly didn’t have Internet at all (curse you, Time Warner Cable!).
To get you back up to speed on my life and what you can continue to expect from this little blog now that life has settled down a bit, let’s go back to the last time I blogged — Tuesday, September 22.

Three Weeks Ago
Spencer and I had less than a week to go before we closed on our house, and our mortgage company was still messing things up. We emailed, called, (I stress-cried a little), and finally we had a finalized closing document, which appeared about five business hours before our closing was supposed to take place.
Thus, we spent 6 hours in the car on Saturday to get a certified check from our nearest branch bank location. (Read: We really need to switch from our Atlanta-based bank to a more convenient one in Cincy.) Then there was the packing. SO MUCH PACKING. Zoey tried to help…
Two Weeks Ago
WE CLOSED ON OUR HOUSE! That’s right, first thing on Monday morning, we were in the title company’s office, signing about a million documents that we really should go back and read again.
My lovely parents arrived on Wednesday to help paint two of our rooms and move us in. For any curious minds, that is Benjamin Moore’s Guilford Green in our bedroom, and it is the most soothing, gorgeous color that I’ve ever seen. I’m in love.
Spencer’s wonderful parents got here on Thursday, towing our new dining set for the kitchen and, of course, the holy pool table. Everyone helped us pack up the apartment and move all of our worldly possessions into the house on Friday. You never think you have much stuff until you try to fit it all into boxes…
One Week Ago
We spent the nights in our new house and the weekend days at a local bar. Having no cable is rough during football season. #TimeWarnerIsTheWorst
I also caught up on some book club reading (oops…), and somehow let Sarah convince me to join up for NaNoWriMo with her! If you aren’t familiar with National Novel Writing Month, it takes place every November when a whole bunch of crazy people like me attempt to write 50,000 in 30 days. OH. And most importantly, I turned 24! With all of the crazy going on in my life, it kind of flew by, but I had a lovely dinner with the husband, cupcakes from my coworkers, and even some reluctant love from the cat. All-in-all, a very good way to ring in my twenty-fourth year.
This Week
In the next few days, you can expect either 1) a whole bunch of backdated posts (ew, I know), or 2) multiple posts in one day! I have a few things to catch up on, like book club and monthly goals, that I’d rather get out ASAP, but the organizational side of my brain wants them all to be in a nice order as if I hadn’t dropped the ball for the last few weeks. We’ll just have to see which side wins!
Next Week
Speaking of book club, we’re almost to the end of the inaugural year, and Sarah has agreed to co-host the next year with me! If you haven’t checked out her blog already, you definitely should. We’re very similar in our interests, except she’s still rocking the college life while she completes her PhD, and she lives in sunny Orlando, Florida aka Disney World heaven.
We have a really fun theme for this next year of book club, so stick around for updates! But you should especially check back here next Tuesday… hint hint.
Thanks for sticking with me, friends!
