Happy Friday, everyone! My weeks just keep getting longer and longer, so it’s nice when we finally get to sit back and enjoy the weekend for a bit. Speaking of, now that you’ve had your fill of book club, I’m excited to share with you what Spencer and I did last weekend, first of all because it was our first experience with the Cincinnati Ballet, and secondly it gave me the perfect excuse to use the jewelry from this month’s Rocksbox. Where shall I begin?
As I’ve said many times, Spencer and I do the coolest things with this work group for young employees. Volunteering, drinking whiskey, drinking beer… basically if we’re out of the house, it’s with this group! So, of course, when they put together a swanky night full of cocktails (are you sensing a pattern?) and the arts, we immediately jumped at the chance to attend.
Our evening began at The Phoenix, a gorgeous old club built at the end of the 19th century that’s been maintained so well you can imagine all sorts of big shots in Downton Abbey garb bowing and scraping and generally enjoying their own self-importance. The hors d’oeuvres were great and surprisingly filling, the drinks were well-mixed and surprisingly alcohol heavy, and it was the perfect beginning to a great night.
From there we walked a block or so over to The Aronoff Center, a much newer building with three separate performance spaces and a beautiful lobby area. We saw the Cincinnati Ballet perform to Mozart’s Requiem, and it was stunning. The choreographer did a truly amazing job of juxtaposing the life and death themes of Mozart’s famous work, and it toed a fine line between being too modern for my tastes and sticking to traditional ballet. Overall I am a fan, and we will be seeing many more productions from the Cincinnati Ballet!
Now what you’ve all been waiting for… my Rocksbox for the month! I had gone back and forth about committing to a Rocksbox subscription because I love the idea of getting jewelry delivered to my front door, but I wasn’t sure that I wore enough of it in my day-to-day life to justify the expense. Then Elizabeth gave her readers a promo code for a free month, and I jumped at the chance to try it out! Here’s what I received in my first Rocksbox:
Gorjana Pristine Circle Stud Earrings
These earrings are very pretty, and I love the detail on the studs, but they seemed too small in my ears.
Sophie Harper Pavé V Necklace
This necklace was my favorite of the bunch, and I rarely wear necklaces. Dainty and feminine with the perfect length chain!
Gorjana Zoe Crossover Ring
I wasn’t a huge fan of this one. The ring was a big tall for my finger, and it pinched my knuckle a few times throughout the night.
I still haven’t decided if I’ll be renewing my subscription for next month (we’re saving up for some exciting big purchases in the next few months), but either way I thoroughly enjoyed my Rocksbox, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to add some new, exciting jewelry to your rotation, even if you only try it for a month! If you do decide to give it a try, let them know I sent you by using my code: TYLERBFF21. (This isn’t a promo code, but I can receive Shine Spend cash for my referrals, so you’d be redeeming boatloads of karma points.)
Have you tried Rocksbox? What, if anything, do you think I should keep from my box? I have $10 Shine Spend burning a virtual hole in my pocket!
